THE SERENGETI

Where Nature Performs Its Greatest Show

Welcome to the Serengeti — home of the legendary Big Five, Africa’s Leading National Park 2025, and the breathtaking stage of the Great Wildebeest Migration. This iconic wilderness has inspired world-famous nature documentaries and blockbuster films, and once you experience it yourself, you’ll understand why. A Tanzania safari to the Serengeti is not just a journey — it’s a life-changing encounter with Mother Nature at her most powerful and beautiful.

The Legendary Serengeti

Serengeti National Park is Africa’s most celebrated wildlife reserve, renowned for hosting the largest concentration of game on the continent. Covering nearly 15,000 km² (6,000 sq miles), it is Tanzania’s second-largest national park. The name “Serengeti” comes from the Maasai word meaning “endless plains”, a perfect description of its vast, open landscapes that stretch beyond the horizon.

Witness the Great Wildebeest Migration

The Great Migration is the Serengeti’s crown jewel — a natural spectacle unlike anything else on Earth. Every year, more than one million wildebeest, joined by zebras and gazelles, move in an epic circular journey across the Serengeti and into Kenya’s Masai Mara in search of fresh grazing and water.

Watching thousands of animals thunder across the plains, brave crocodile-infested rivers, and evade powerful predators is nothing short of extraordinary. The migrating herds can stretch up to 40 kilometers long, covering nearly 1,000 kilometers in one of the most dramatic survival journeys in the animal kingdom. Recognized as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, the Great Migration is often the highlight of a safari and one of the greatest wildlife events on the planet.

The migration can be seen year-round, as the animals continuously move in response to rainfall. Thanks to our experienced Tanzania safari guides, we are able to accurately predict the best locations at any given time.

Wildlife Beyond Imagination

While the migration steals the spotlight, the Serengeti offers extraordinary wildlife encounters all year long. The park is home to more than:

  • 4,000 lions
  • 1,000 leopards
  • 225 cheetahs
  • 3,500 hyenas

With vast numbers of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and buffalo, it’s no surprise that the Serengeti supports one of Africa’s highest predator densities. It is also one of the best places to spot the Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino.

In addition, the park shelters rare species such as the pangolin, East African oryx, wild dogs, and black rhino, making every game drive a thrilling discovery.

Landscapes That Touch the Soul

The Serengeti’s landscapes are as diverse as its wildlife. Endless grasslands dotted with acacia trees blend seamlessly into rocky kopjes, rivers, lakes, swamps, and distant hills. Each region has its own mood, beauty, and rhythm of life. This remarkable diversity has earned the Serengeti its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site — a place that leaves a lasting imprint on every visitor’s heart.
